You don't get to focus on your strengths when running your business but it doesn't need to be that way!

As business owners, we use many different hats. From marketing your business to finances and design, you’re expected to be a Jack of all trades. It’s easy to get distracted with all these hats and forget why you started your business in the first place.

I started my business because I LOVE design. I love creating designs for creative business owners that help them shine and share their businesses with the world! But in running my business I’ve gotten distracted with all the other hats and watched as less and less of my day was spent actually doing design.

I’m sure you’ve done this too!

It’s easy to get distracted by all the other challenges that your business presents to you! There’s always something that needs your attention.

You’ll always need to spend some time managing your business but there is plenty that you can start delegating. I’ve slowly started delegating more of my work to other team members, leaving me more time to focus on design and serving my clients.

Do you ever miss the joy of spending a day just doing what you love?

I know I did!

Delegating can be hard! It took me years to have the courage to share my responsibilities with someone else and trust them to do the assigned work.

Finding the right person is half the battle! Ideally, you’d want to find someone that loves to do the work you’re not so happy doing. Someone whose strengths complement your weakness.

For me, that meant finding someone that was great at finding errors in written content and that loved doing repetitive tasks. Someone detailed oriented that is quick to learn.

What would that person look like for you?

Delegating can be hard but once you find someone you can trust to support you in your business you’ll get to focus on your strengths again, and running your business will be much more fun!
